Funding available for outdoor recreation infrastructure – submit your proposal now

SDCC is now accepting expressions of interest for the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme 2026/2027 from community and local partnership groups. This is an opportunity for community groups to suggest projects that would benefit local communities.
The Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme supports the development and maintenance of outdoor recreation infrastructure for activities such as walking, canoeing, mountain biking, orienteering and wild swimming.
Projects should, in the main, be located in the countryside (i.e. not within the environs of towns or villages). However, ORIS will fund recreational infrastructure linking a town to significant other outdoor recreation facilities located in the countryside. Recreational amenities located near rivers, and lakes and water-based projects located within town environs are also eligible.
SDCC is administering this scheme, which is funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht (DRCDG).
