Become a member of our library service

Joining and using our library service is free to all. There is no minimum age to join but those under 18 will require the signature of a parent or guardian.

Join online

You can become a member of South Dublin Libraries by joining online using the button below. You will need to fill in details of name, address, Eircode and email address. Membership of the library is governed by terms and condition which we advise you to read. By clicking on  I Accept at the bottom of this page you are agreeing to the terms and condition and may proceed to complete the online registration process.

Collecting your library card

To collect your physical library card, please visit your nearest South Dublin Library with photographic ID (passport, driver's licence) and proof of your address (gas bill, electricity bill). Staff will be happy to outline all the various services that your new card entitles you to and show you the layout of the library. Your library membership allows to borrow and use other library services anywhere in the Libraries Ireland Consortium.

Your library card is valid for one year.

After 12 months your library card will expire and you may not be able to borrow or access online services. You will be emailed in advance of this expiry date so that you can review your card in the branch and continue using our service – both in the branch and online.

To renew your library membership bring your library card, photo ID and proof of address to your nearest South Dublin library.
