Redline Book Festival 2026

Red Line Book Festival

Red Line Book Festival is a flagship event in the South Dublin cultural calendar and a wonderful reflection of the county’s creative spirit. The festival, now in its 14th year is more than a celebration of literature, it is a platform for dialogue, imagination, and diverse yet shared experiences. It is a time when readers and writers meet in fantastic local cultural spaces such as Rathfarnham Castle, Clondalkin Round Tower, Parthalán Place, Rathcoole Courthouse and many more.

Creating opportunities for cultural growth, connection and communication is one of South Dublin County Council's key objectives. The 2025 programme reflected that ambition with a range of literary highlights. These included insights from Booker Prize winning author Paul Lynch, a reflection on Hector Ó hEochagáin’s life, career and passion for the Irish language, and a unique celebration of Jane Austen with Bridget Jones creator Helen Fielding and Longbourne author Jo Baker – each bringing their own distinctive voice to our festival stages.

Those with a keen eye on politics enjoyed Gavan Reilly’s exploration of The Secret Life of Leinster House, while award-winning authors Roisín O’ Donnell and Xiaolu Guo invited audiences into their creative worlds, sharing experiences from their remarkable writing journeys.

We are looking forward to the next Red Line Book Festival from October 12th to 18th 2026 and the festival programmes from 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 can be viewed below for a flavour of what to expect.
