Six SDCC projects shortlisted in the annual Chambers Ireland Awards
Chambers Ireland have announced the shortlist for the 2026 Excellence in Local Government Awards, held annually to recognise and celebrate the outstanding work being carried out by Local Authorities all over Ireland, with SDCC shortlisted in 6 of the 16 available categories. This follows last year’s historic success, where SDCC was named the overall Local Authority of the Year at the 2025 awards.
SDCC has been recognised for the following projects:
- South Dublin County Council Pollinator Action Plan 2026–2030 in the Supporting Environment & Biodiversity category.
- Inclusive Age-Friendly Outdoor Gym Programme in the Health and Wellbeing category.
- Cycling Inclusion Centre of Excellence in the Diversity and Inclusion category.
- Innovation Square Cost Rental Development in the Local Authority Innovation category.
- Bronntanas – Irish Language Festival in the Celebrating Irish Language and Culture category.
- Cyber Security Month: a county-wide engagement campaign in the Communications category.
The Awards are held in conjunction with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, and will be presented across sixteen different categories, with one local authority awarded the overall award and named Local Authority of the Year.
