Clondalkin Equine Club welcomes President Catherine Connolly to the Equine Club at Ballyowen Equine Centre.

DUBLIN, 16 April 2026: President Catherine Connolly today marked a significant moment in her ongoing engagement with the community. The visit fulfilled a promise she made during her previous engagement with Clondalkin Equine Club at the Ballyowen Equine Centre, where she committed to returning to continue the conversation and deepen her support for the work and service taking place.

The President and Mayor of South Dublin County Council officially marked the return visit, and the President was welcomed by the Board of Clondalkin Equine Club, local TD’s, Councillors, current and past club members, SDCC and other stakeholders, who accompanied her during a tour of the facilities and provided updates on recent developments.

During the visit, President Connolly met with staff, volunteers, and club members, taking time to listen to their experiences and discuss the progress made since her last appearance. She reiterated her commitment to championing initiatives that strengthen local communities and highlighted the importance of sustained collaboration.

Speaking at today’s events, President Catherine Connolly said “May I thank the Clondalkin Equine Club for their very warm welcome today. Clondalkin Equine Club is an oasis of tranquillity in a busy area, providing young people with a supportive environment to learn and retain the vital customs of proper urban horse care. I was very impressed with the work of the club, and of all of the young people participating in it, when I visited the Clondalkin Equine Club during the Presidential Election campaign and I am delighted to return to the Club as President.”

Mayor Kearns said: “President Connolly, your presence here today means a great deal to this club and to our wider community. It reminds us that what we build locally, truly matters nationally.”

Acting Chairperson of the Clondalkin Equine Club said “The club believes in the power of community and people coming together for the greater good – values we are proud to celebrate today during the president’s visit”

The President’s return to the Clondalkin Equine Club underscores her dedication to ensuring that promises made are promises kept, and her belief in the value of continued engagement with the people and organisations driving positive change, promoting good animal welfare practise and engaging with marginalised young people in Dublin 22.
