New Council to sit for first time on 7 June

A mix of returning and fresh faces will sit together when the new Council meets for the first time on 7 June.

Forty councillors were elected over the course of the weekend to sit on the new South Dublin County Council when it meets for the first time on 7 June in County Hall, Tallaght.

This includes seventeen newly elected members that join the returning twenty-three to make up the forty seats in the Council. They will act as the public representatives of the people of South Dublin County over the next five years.

Next-Council

Fianna Fáil has been returned as the largest political party in the make-up of the new Council while 35% of the seats, 14 out of 40, were won by women, higher than the national average.

The first meeting of the new Council will take place in the Council Chambers, County Hall, Tallaght on Friday 7 June 2019 at 3.30 pm when a new Mayor will be elected.
