Mayor honours Community volunteers at Award Ceremony

26 Jun 25

Mayor of South Dublin County Council (SDCC), Cllr. Baby Pereppadan, hosted the Mayor’s Awards on 25th June.

The event, held in County Hall in Tallaght, was attended by Councillors, community groups and volunteers from across the county. Councillors nominated groups or individuals that embody the spirit of community work and volunteering. Each Councillor spoke about their nominee’s work and their contribution to their community and the Mayor then presented them with a small token of appreciation.

Speaking at the event Mayor Cllr Baby Pereppadan said,

“People may be unaware of the level of work and effort that goes into making our lives more enriched, but the benefits can be seen all around us, and we all benefit greatly. I decided to hold these Awards to honour and acknowledge the level of community and volunteer work across the county. This work can sometimes go unnoticed; in fact, it may only be noticed in its absence.

I wanted to acknowledge as many members as possible of our community who give their time and energy freely to benefit all our lives and make South Dublin an amazing place to live. The measure of any location is the people that inhabit it.”
