City Edge Strategic Framework

16 Aug 22

The City Edge Project is a joint initiative between South Dublin County Council (SDCC) and Dublin City Council (DCC) to create a new liveable, sustainable and climate resilient urban quarter at the western edge of Dublin City.

The project area covers 700 hectares within the Naas Road, Ballymount and Park West areas and has the potential for 40,000 new homes and 75,000 jobs that would contribute €13bn GVA a year to the economy, making it one of the largest regeneration opportunities in Europe.

Following on from detailed analysis of the area and public consultation between September and October of 2021, the City Edge Strategic Framework has been formulated and comprises a non-statutory plan that sets out a long-term, high-level vision and strategy for the regeneration of the area over a 50-year timescale.

Having been noted by the Elected Members of South Dublin County Council and Dublin City Council, the Strategic Framework is now available to view. More information can be found on the City Edge website including the full City Edge Strategic Framework document, the Strategic Framework Summary Booklet, supporting studies and details on next steps.
