Unleash your Creativity and Imagination at Cruinniú na nÓg
Cruinniú na nÓg, a nationwide celebration of creativity and culture for children and young people, is just around the corner. This exciting event, taking place on June 10th, offers a plethora of engaging activities and interactive experiences that aim to ignite the imagination of participants.
Organised by the Creative Ireland Programme in collaboration with local authorities and cultural organisations, Cruinniú na nÓg invites children and young people across Ireland to embrace their creativity and explore various art forms, including visual arts, music, dance, theatre, literature, and more.
There’s lots happening in South Dublin Libraries branches on the day. For all you Lego fanatics, our first Lego Fest will take place across all libraries. This includes themed Lego workshops with Bricks4Kidz, and Lego Art Workshops with the Glow Group where children will use scanning technology to build a Lego model of their faces. There’ll be Bricks Flicks workshops where children will learn how to design their own sets, script, storyboard, film, edit and produce their own masterpiece. Fancy yourself as a Master Builder? Enter one of the Lego building competitions taking place across all branches.
Also happening on the day is a Street Festival in North Clondalkin Library where you can join us for a fun afternoon of family festivities, including a magic show, Zumba classes, Mucky Picnic and more. There’s a very special event happening at Lucan Library with the author of the InvestiGATORS series, John Patrick Green visiting from New York to meet all his readers in South Dublin County. At Ballyroan Library, join Thomas Annang for The Beat Goes On! an African drumming and dance workshop.
‘The Loft’ at Tallaght Library will also be launched on 10th June with the unveiling of a new artwork ‘Make it Ours’, a large-scale graffiti piece designed and created by local teens with the help of illustrator and artist Ashwin Chacko. The Loft is a new teenage space in Tallaght Library and will be home to an innovative events series for teens, including DJ workshops Noise Music, Open Mic events with Sub Sounds, and a comedy club with Foróige.
Cruinniú na nÓg aims to inspire young minds, foster a sense of community, and nurture a lifelong love for the arts. It provides a platform for children and young people to express themselves, share their unique perspectives, and celebrate their creativity in a supportive and inclusive environment.
