Corkagh Park Walking and Cycling Link, Clondalkin

This route was completed in 2012. The works at Corkagh Park consisted of an upgrade of an existing footpath through the Clondalkin Park Section of Corkagh Park in Clondalkin. A new 4m wide shared pedestrian and cycle route now connects the adjacent residential areas to the town centre and the Fonthill Rd via Clondalkin Leisure Centre. The project also included the construction of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge. The existing footpath was frequently used by cyclists as it served as a short cut between the residential areas adjacent to Fonthill Road and Clondalkin Town centre. It is also a popular route to the local schools.

Dargle Wood Walking and Cycling Link , Rathfarnham

This route was completed in 2012 and consisted of the construction of a shared walking and cycle link through the open space within Dargle Wood housing estate in Knocklyon. The proposal was for 2 new accesses and a 4m wide pedestrian and cycle route through open space that contained an existing strong desire line. A new stone faced boundary wall with low railing on top was also provided. The new route reduces the distance for walkers and cyclists to the local centre and adjacent schools and other facilities. A post user survey of the completed Dargle Wood link at Knocklyon indicated that a total 1,451 people used the route in a 23.5 hour period over 3 days (Survey carried out on Tuesday 18th September 2012 from 13:30 to 19:30, on Wednesday 19th September 2012 from 08:00 to 19:30 and on Saturday 22nd September 2012 from 11:00 to 17:00)
