Human Rights Day – Launch of the Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty Framework
SDCC today marked Human Rights Day and the conclusion of Accessibility Week with the launch of our updated Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty Frameworkat County Hall.

The revised framework reflects the latest guidance issued by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC). It ensures that the Council’s approach to equality and human rights remains current, robust, and fully aligned with national standards as well as the organisation’s own ambitions for an inclusive and equitable county.
Under the Public Sector Equality and Human Rights Duty, SDCC has a statutory responsibility to proactively prevent discrimination, identify and remove barriers, and work towards equal outcomes for everyone who lives, works, or engages with services in South Dublin County.
Speaking at the launch, Lorna Maxwell, Director of Services for Community, said: “I am delighted to see our updated Framework launched and eager to see it being used to guide us in promoting equality and protecting human rights across our planning, service delivery and workplace practices.”
