Higher Education Grants

Corporate Performance & Change Management Department has responsibility for the processing of Higher Education Grant Renewal Applications in accordance with the Student Grants Scheme 2016 - S.I. 153/2016 which is governed by the Student Support Act 2011 and the Student Support Regulations 2016 - S.I. 154/2016

Students who are currently in receipt of a student grant from South Dublin County Council and who are progressing to the next year of the same course will continue to be assessed and paid by us. We will continue to process renewal applications for students to whom we have already awarded grants until such time as these students have completed their current courses.

Any student applying for a grant for the first time must apply to the awarding authority SUSI (Student Universal Support Ireland) – www.susi.ie.  The same also applies to existing students who are changing course or progressing to a new course.

The reckonable income limits set out in Schedule 1, the qualifying conditions including those for the special rates of grant set out in Schedule 2 and the rates of the grant set out in Schedule 3 of the Student Grant Scheme 2016<_http3a_ default="" files="" publications="" si-159-of-2013-student-grant-scheme-2013.pdf="" sites="" www.sdcc.ie=""> <_http3a_ default="" files="" publications="" sites="" student-grant-scheme-2014.pdf="" www.sdcc.ie="">, 2017 apply to all students whose grants are being renewed in the 2016/17 academic year and who were assessed under a prior scheme or under the Student Grant Scheme 2011 and subsequent schemes.
