D24 Neighbourhood Cycle Network Traffic Survey
In a 2022 Traffic survey of the D24 Neighbourhood Cycle Network, it was observed that 91.2% of vehicles surveyed were cars and vans while only 0.7% of vehicles were bikes. This survey was done prior to the construction of the active travel network.
In 2025, a traffic survey was conducted in the area of the D24 Neighbourhood cycle Network after construction. This was done to be able to display the benefits of the scheme and show the safer road environments for all users. A finding from the survey was an Overall decrease in speed on Killininny Road with an average reduction of 14.6 km/h as displayed by the below graphic.

The survey analysed the percentage change of vehicles using Killininny Road from the survey in 2022 to the survey in 2025 and found a more than 3% change in users of the road. This minimal change shows the scheme retains a similar capacity for vehicles while providing improved walking and cycling facilities.
