Proposed Traffic Calming Urban Renewal Scheme - as part of a Road Safety Improvement Scheme on the N81 at Brittas Village
South Dublin County Council (SDCC), in conjunction with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), are working with the Kildare National Roads Office to develop a design aimed at delivering Traffic Calming and Urban Renewal measures as part of a Road Safety Improvement Scheme along the N81 National Secondary Road through the village of Brittas, County Dublin.
Background
The proposed scheme seeks to address ongoing concerns regarding road safety and traffic management within Brittas Village. South Dublin County Council has received several complaints relating to this section of the N81, including:
- A high volume of vehicles travelling at excessive speeds, exceeding the posted 60 km/h speed limit
- The absence of safe pedestrian crossing facilities, impacting access to bus stops and amenities on either side of the village
Scheme Objectives
The key objectives of the proposed scheme are:
- Introduce traffic calming measures to reduce vehicle speeds through the village
- Enhance safety for pedestrians and local residents through improved facilities
- Reduce road traffic collisions within the village area
Public Consultation (Section 38 Planning Proposal)
The Section 38 Planning Proposal will be:
- Advertised in a local newspaper circulating in the area
- Available for public inspection online via the Council’s Public Consultation Portal: 👉 http://consult.sdublincoco.ie
