Grand Canal to Lucan Urban Greenway Phase 1a opening

On May 8th 2026, Phase 1a of the Grand Canal to Lucan Urban Greenway scheme was officially opened by South Dublin County Council mayor Pamela Kearns. This phase includes the upgrade and improvement of paths and features within Griffeen Valley Park and improved/new crossings of Griffeen Avenue and Old Esker Lane.

Phase 1a works were contracted to Clonmel Enterprises LTD with consulting from Egis Ireland. These enhancements reflect an ongoing commitment to provide alternative travel options to local commuters and create accessible features for Griffeen Valley Park and surrounding areas.
