Launch of Safe Routes to School Projects in Old Bawn, Tallaght

On 13th of June 2025, SDCC officially opened Safe Routes to School initiatives at Scoil Maelruain National School in Old Bawn, Tallaght. The project on Old Bawn Avenue is officially named a school street.

The scheme includes restricted vehicle access at the cul-de-sac, raised zebra crossings, resurfaced footpaths designed for safe walking and wheeling, pencil-style bollards, and colourful road markings. These improvements aim to enhance safety during school drop-off and collection times while encouraging students and caregivers to walk or cycle to school.
