Wellington Cycle Scheme Phase A Detailed design is currently being finalized and is set to begin construction in Q4 2026.

The Wellington Road Cycling and Walking Scheme Part 8 Consultation commenced 08/09/2022 and has ended 28/10/2022.

The EIA and AA screening decision was taken on 11th August 2022 and recorded on the SDCC Chief Executive Order system.

Rossmore Road Trial

As a part of this scheme, a trial scheme was set up on Rossmore Road to monitor the reaction to Active Travel implementations. 

This trial consisted of:

• A 2-way cycle track on Rossmore Road.
• junction tightening at Rossmore Drive, Rossmore Grove and Rossmore Crescent.

This trial received positive reception with 54% of cyclists feeling safer cycling on Rossmore Road post construction of this scheme. For more details on this trial and results from its consultation with the public please see here.
