D24 Neighbourhood Cycle Network Phase 2
D24 Neighbourhood Cycle Network Phase 2 is currently under construction. Locations included for improved cycling infrastructure and related improvements during this phase include Ballycullen Road, Ballycullen Avenue, Ballycullen Drive and Killininy Road.
Construction is expected to be completed in Q3 2025.
Implementations include:
- New pedestrian crossings/raised tables to allow safe access to Scoil Treasa, Firhouse Educate Together, Gaelscoil Na Giúise and Firhouse Community College.
- Improved Pedestrian Crossing on Killininy Rd, linking schools, community centre and sports clubs to shops.
- 5 km of new protected cycle track. New cycle tracks will act as a safety buffer from vehicular traffic for those walking.
- Connectivity to the Dodder Greenway which provides safe route to Dublin City.

Benefits of Scheme construction include:
- Encouraging people to walk and cycle rather than driving when they can.
- Improve road safety particularly for the elderly and children and in turn reduce emissions causing climate change.
- Similar schemes in have increased those walking and cycling and helped make area safer and more pleasant and more attractive.
- Safer walking and cycling facilities allow more people to choose to walk or cycle for short trips and safer facilities will encourage more children to walk or cycle to nearby schools, Scoil Treasa, Firhouse Educate Together, Gaelscoil Na Giúise and Firhouse Community College.
This scheme is constructed under Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994.
