CAS - Capital Assistance Scheme

•The scheme is for the provision of capital funding for the delivery, through either construction or acquisition, of housing accommodation, to cater for the priority groups under the Capital Assistance Scheme (CAS) including: elderly; homeless persons (including “care leavers” exiting State care on reaching the age of 18);  people with a disability, with a particular emphasis on moving people with disability from a congregated settings into community based living. 

•The Council may advance a non-repayable loan to an Approved Housing Body (AHB) to cover the cost of providing these units.. These loans are not repayable provided that the accommodation continues to be let to eligible categories of person and is properly maintained.   In all cases all lettings must be made to persons who are on the council’s housing waiting list.

 •Applications for funding from AHBs through the CAS Scheme should be made in writing to cas@sdublincoco.ie
