Abattoirs
Ante and post mortem inspections are carried out on all animals slaughtered for human consumption. Issue abattoir and slaughter licences.
Food Safety
Through a Service Contract with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland, the Veterinary Section of South Dublin County Council is responsible for approval and official controls in meat storage, cutting and processing plants in all of the 4 local authorities in Dublin.
Official controls in meat plants include inspection, auditing, sampling and investigation of complaints.
