Tyre Regulations

The Waste Management (Tyres and Waste Tyres) Regulations 2017, S.I. 400 of 2017 came in to effect on 1st October 2017. The regulations were introduced to promote the environmentally sound management of waste tyres by providing a regulatory framework for comparing quantities of waste tyres arising with the quantities placed on the market and in tracking the movement of waste tyres from the time they are discarded until they either reused or processed for recycling and/or recovery.

Tyre Manufacturers, Wholesalers, Suppliers, Traders, or Retailers:

In accordance with the Waste Management (Tyres and Waste Tyres) Regulations 2007, a person for the purpose of trade or otherwise in the course of business who supplies tyres (or waste tyres) to other persons, whether as manufacturer, wholesaler, supplier, trader, or retailer are legally obliged to Join the collective compliance scheme operated by the approved body, Repak ELT, Further information is available on the website. www.repakelt.ie
