Case Studies
SDCC has multiple projects under way within the DZ. Some of these projects are part of wider inititives happening across the county, where as others are targeted within the DZ. Below are some initial case studies of what projects are beginning in the DZ. This list will expand overtime and once projects get completed they will be mapped and visible on the homepage.
Energy Cloud
SDCC, EnergyCloud and Microsoft are collaborating together to launch an initiative aimed at tackling energy poverty. This initiative will use excess renewable energy during off peak hours to provide free hot water to social houses within the Clondalkin DZ. Under this scheme a device will be attached to the heat immersion tanks and notify the resident when there is energy available to get a free tank of hot water. To read more on this initiative see the new article here.

Energy Performance Contracts
SDCC is seeking to decarbonise some of our key buildings with Energy Performance Contracts (EPC). These contracts will bring a range of upgrades to these buildings such as heat pumps, solar panels, improved insulation, LED lighting and a building management system. The EPC will aid SDCC in meeting our climate targets, but also help to reduce local authority emissions in Clondalkin. Two buildings in Clondalkin will be apart of the EPC contract, these will be the SDCC Civic Offices and Clondalkin Leisure Centre. To see more information and what buildinsg will be upgraded please see our climate action storymap.
