SDCC to Launch Sixteenth Annual Social Inclusion Festival

08 Nov 21

The Mayor of South Dublin County, Cllr Peter Kavanagh, will officially launch South Dublin County Council’s sixteenth Social Inclusion Festival online on Monday 15 November 2021. The festival will run until Sunday 21 November.

The Social Inclusion Festival provides a platform to highlight social inclusion initiatives and promote active citizenship. Social inclusion is about creating a society where everyone experiences full and equal participation in all aspects of life.  Social inclusion is “Everyone’s Business”.

During the festival, there will be a varied programme of free online and live events, in adherence to current Covid -19 restrictions. In a warmup event, Mayor Kavanagh will attend Aon Scéal Café for a family fun day to include juggling, face painting, candy floss and cúpla focal. Mayor Kavanagh will also attend the anti-racism talks at Adamstown Community College with members from the group Black and Irish.

Look out for Lucan Library Art Competition, Healthy Food made easy course, Inclusive Art workshops, Activism and Community with Síona Cahill, Fundamentals of Volunteer Engagement, Recycled Youth Tea Dance, One Good Adult facilitated by Jigsaw, Safeguarding your Financial Wellbeing workshops and much more.

A detailed schedule for the festival has been developed and is available on the Council’s website

Mayor Kavanagh said, “I am delighted to be launching the sixteenth Social Inclusion Festival in South Dublin County. There is a wide variety of very exciting events taking place online and across the County and I’d urge everyone to get involved and take part in this year’s festival.”
