Dublin Canvas seek submissions for South Dublin County
Dublin Canvas is an idea, a public art platform intended to bring flashes of colour and creativity to everyday objects within the South Dublin County area. Less grey, more play. The platform takes previously unused public space and transforms it into canvases to help brighten up the area. Making South Dublin County a more beautiful place to live, work and visit.
Leading on from the successful completion of 223 boxes painted over the last 3 years within the Dublin City Council area. Dublin Canvas is now pleased to announce an expansion of the platform to South Dublin County Council. This expansion will consist of a total of 48 new boxes – eight within each of SDCC six main areas. The below timeline will apply.
Callout Commences -Thursday 8th March
Submission Deadline - Monday, 16th April
Selection process – Tuesday 17th April – Friday 20th April
Artists notified of outcome W/C Monday 23rd April
Artwork Completed – May 1st - late Autumn
Dublin Canvas utilises traffic light control boxes. These boxes, previously designed to go unnoticed will now become canvases for artwork. We are now actively seeking submissions of artwork from local artists and community groups. This is a fantastic opportunity to have your artwork displayed to the public in prime locations. Completed artwork will brighten up and turn these once dull, heavily tagged (with graffiti) boxes into beautiful works of art, transforming this area into a walking gallery of public art. Artists and community groups who wish to participate and paint one of this Summer’s available boxes are asked to visit www.dublincanvas.com, to carefully read guidelines on how to submit and then forward on correctly prepared submissions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
