Important information for people in receipt of a bin waiver
How will the new advance credit system affect my waste charges waiver?
Instead of receiving bin tags in the post, your Waste Charges Account will be automatically credited with a number of bin lifts on a quarterly basis. So you still have your waiver and you do not have to pay for bin lifts. What should I do if I use up all of my bin lift credit?
If you use up all of your bin lift credit before the end of the quarter and still wish to present your waste for collection then you will need to purchase bin lift credit before your account is credited again. Why do I need a Waste Charges Card?
You should keep your Waste Charges Card (attached to letter) in a safe place because you will need it should you wish to purchase additional bin lift credit. Credit can be purchased:Online
You can top up using your laser/credit card on our on-line secure payment system, just log on to www.southdublin.ie. You will need your Waste Charges Account Number and Verification Code. These numbers are on your Waste Charges Card.
By Telephone
Call 01-4149000 and choose the Waste Charges option. You can then select the service you require e.g. purchase bin lift credit or check account balance. You will need your Waste Charges Account Number and your laser/credit card details to purchase credit.
Over the Counter Purchase
You will need your Waste Charges Card to purchase bin lift credit at Post Offices, Payzone and PostPoint outlets throughout South Dublin County and at Council offices in Tallaght and Clondalkin.
What can I do with bin tags left over from the old system?
You have already been issued with enough tags to cover you up to the end of January 2010. You can use your bin tags up to and including 29th January 2010. If you run out of bin tags before this date, you will have to purchase bin lift credit using your Waste Charges Card.On 1st February 2010, your Waste Charges Account will be automatically credited with the same number of bin lifts you would normally get in your waiver pack for the remainder of that quarter and from then on, your account will be automatically credited with a number of bin lifts per quarter.
What happens if I move house?
Because your waiver account/Waste Charges Card is linked to you the customer and not your address, you must bring your Waste Charges Card with you and you must inform the Environmental Services Department on 01-4149000 of your new address. Otherwise, lifts that you have been allocated as part of your waiver or bin lift credit that you purchase may be used at your previous address. If you fail to inform the Environmental Services Department, you will be liable for any loss of waiver bin lifts or bin lift credit used at your previous address.
